Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj was not just a Guru; he was the very embodiment of Divine Love (Premanand). In an era dominated by materialism, he descended to reconcile the conflicting philosophies of the world and reveal the simplest, most accessible path to Shri Radha Krishna Realization for the modern age.
The Divine Appearance
He appeared on the auspicious night of **Sharad Purnima** in October 1922, in the small village of Mangarh, near Prayagraj (Allahabad). From his childhood, his divine nature was evident.
The Title of Jagadguru
In 1957, at the tender age of 34, he addressed the **Kashi Vidvat Parishat**, the supreme body of 500 scholars in Varanasi. He spoke for nine days in complex Sanskrit, quoting vedas , shastras and other hindu scriptures without even seen one .
- Kashi Vidvat Parishat, 1957
He became the **5th Original Jagadguru** in history, following the lineage of Adi Shankaracharya, Nimbarkacharya, Ramanujacharya, and Madhvacharya. He was merely 34, while previous Jagadgurus received this title much later in life. Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj did not oppose the teachings of any previous Jagadguru; rather, he harmonized and synthesized all of them.
His Philosophy: Roopdhyan
Maharaj Ji simplified the Vedas into one practical instruction: **Attach your mind to God.** He taught that physical actions (rituals) alone do not purify the soul; it is the mind's attachment that matters. He introduced Roopdhyan (meditating on the form of Radha Krishna) combined with Sankirtan (chanting) as the most effective method for this age.
Monumental Literature
To ensure his teachings lasted forever, he authored masterpieces such as:
- Prem Ras Madira: 1008 devotional songs (pads) describing the pastimes of Radha Krishna.
- Prem Ras Siddhant: The philosophy of Divine Love explained in simple Hindi.
- Radha Govind Geet: Couplets of wisdom for daily life.
